Water and sanitation (WASH)

 Shortage or lack of safe water for drinking, cooking and personal hygiene, can make difficult to maintain good health and fight off illnesses. Without proper sanitation, water supplies can become contaminated and diseases can spread rapidly that can bring public health emergency.

Voluntary Action Committee in Somalia (VACSOM) is aiming to increase access to save water, improve sanitation and hygiene and to empower the local community in WASH management. Initiatives were taken to sensitize people on water, sanitation and hygiene through wide community level campaign, demonstration, using Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials etc.
