Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world’s terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to for thousands people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines. Have you ever taken an Aspirin? It comes from the bark of a tree!
Here are the six pillars that explain why trees are vital:
- Air
- Water
- Biodiversity
- Social impact
- Climate and
- Health
As Voluntary Action Committee in Somalia (VACSOM), we are dedicated to making it easier for individuals and businesses to give back to the environment, create a healthier climate, protect biodiversity and help reforestation efforts around the world through planting trees!
VACSOM activities include the following but not limited to:
- Community awareness on environmental education
- Mitigation of overgrazing and overcutting of trees
- Tree planting campaign and
- Environmental advocacy campaigns.
